You can report stores or restaurants in New York City that leave their doors or windows open when air conditioning is running.

You can also report a chain store or restaurant that does not post the Air Conditioning Law Sign on its front doors.

The City's air conditioning law does not apply to:

  • Doors and windows that are open to serve food and beverages
  • Doors and windows that are open during the delivery and shipping of goods

The City doesn’t accept complaints about commercial buildings without air conditioning.
