Call 911
Call 911 if a senior is in immediate physical danger.

You can report suspected elder abuse of an older adult age 60 and older. You can submit a report for yourself or on behalf of someone else.

Elder abuse can be committed by someone with whom the victim has an intimate or trusting relationship.

Such relationships include:

  • Spouse
  • Partner
  • Adult child
  • Other relative
  • Caregiver
  • Home aide or attendant
  • Roommate
  • Friend
  • Any other individual with a trusted relationship to the older adult

Elder abuse can be:

  • Financial
  • Psychological
  • Verbal
  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Caregiver neglect

Other types of complaints, such as a landlord failing to make repairs or complaints about nursing homes, are handled by other agencies. 311 can direct those complaints appropriately.

If you are a victim of elder abuse, you can also contact a Family Justice Center to get information on services such as counseling, safety planning, legal assistance, and more.

A community-based provider will take your report of suspected elder abuse.

To follow up on your report, the provider will need the older adult's:

  • First and last name
  • Address (including an apartment number if not a private house)
  • Telephone number

If you cannot provide all of the older adult's contact information, the provider will take your report but may not be able to contact and assist the older adult.

You can remain anonymous if you are submitting a report on behalf of someone else.
