You can file a complaint about privately-owned garages or parking lots in New York City that provide parking to the public for a fee. For reports of theft or damage to a car, you must make a complaint with the business or file a police report before leaving the location.

Businesses must post rate increases on-site at least 60 days in advance. If the business follows this rule, there is no limit to the amount of the increase. Businesses must post prices for oversize vehicles and special events.

DCWP filed a lawsuit against Way.com, a parking app, for pointing consumers to unlicensed and dangerous parking garages and lots.

The lawsuit claims that Way.com's digital marketplace has aided at least 46 unlicensed parking companies in violating New York City laws, leading to consumer harm and distributing local communities, particularly in the high-demand area surrounding John F. Kennedy International Airport.

If you used Way.com and believe the company deceived you, you can file a complaint with DCWP.

The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) does not accept reports of rude employees. Report this type of complaint to the business.
