City Flag Status

As a mark of respect for the memory of Dr. Hazel Nell Dukes, who passed away on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, flags already lowered to half-staff for the memory of Sanitation Workers Nelvern Samuel and Michael Biuso will continue to be at half-staff by order of the Mayor of the City of New York, Eric L. Adams.

Dr. Hazel Nell Dukes was a civil rights leader in New York City and the nation. She worked tirelessly on the frontlines for decades, including serving most recently as President of the NAACP New York State Conference.

A notice will follow to advise the date when all flags will resume full-staff positions.

This order includes all flags – the American flag, the New York State and City flags, and the POW-MIA flag – on all City buildings and stationary flagstaffs throughout the five boroughs.
