Colorectal cancer, which is known as cancer of the colon or rectum, is one of the leading causes of cancer death in New York City and the United States.

Colon cancer screening saves lives. If you are 45 years of age or older, you should get screened. Some people are at increased risk for colon cancer based on family history or other health risks. They may need to start screening earlier. Talk to your doctor to see what age is appropriate to start screening for you.
