Governors Island is located in the New York Harbor, approximately one-half mile from Battery Park in Lower Manhattan and one-quarter mile from Brooklyn.

The Island is open to the public year-round every day from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Ferries operated by the Trust for Governors Island run daily from the Battery Maritime Building, located at 10 South Street in Lower Manhattan. 

Weekend Brooklyn ferries operated by the Trust for Governors Island will return in Spring 2022. For alternatives, you can take Governors Island operated ferries from Manhattan or the NYC Ferry.

Fees

All weekday ferries, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoon ferries, are $3 round trip. Only cash is accepted.

Ferries are free for:

  • Children age 12 and under 
  • IDNYC holders
  • Military personnel (former and active)
  • Governors Island members
  • Seniors age 65 and older
  • NYCHA residents
  • Community organizations

Saturday and Sunday morning ferries before noon are free for all passengers.

NYC Ferry serves Governors Island daily on the South Brooklyn Route, with stops on the Lower East Side, Wall Street and along the Brooklyn waterfront.
